Andrew Hubbard | Artistic Director/Owner
A pioneer for the new millennium, Andrew’s teaching and choreography is broadening the perceptions of dance. Credits include Broadway companies of Cats and Footloose, Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular, national commercials, Guiding Light, The Young and the Restless just to name a few. he was on faculty at the acclaimed Broadway dance ctr. in New York city, with partner Missy Lay Zimmer and he has taught at numerous colleges and universities all over the country including , Cincinnati ballet, CCM, Cincinnati Performing Arts High School , Wright state University, Ohio dance festival, The Carnegie Center of Columbia Tusculum and Dean College (MA).
He and partner Missy Lay Zimmer have created a nationally recognized contemporary jazz company called Exhale Dance Tribe. Andrew continues to test boundaries and battle conformity, both within himself and the dance community. |

Missy Lay Zimmer | Artistic Director/Owner
Missy is transforming the dance world by reinventing style around her unique musicality. Her New York City credits include: the Broadway and national companies of Cats as Victoria (the white cat), the national tour of Jesus Christ Superstar, Saturday Night Live, MTV, VH1, and Broadway Cares and Equity Fights Aids Award Recipient. Performing and choreographing for artists, Mariah Carey, 98 Degrees, rapper Rakim, Tarkan (Turkish pop star) as well as the NY Knicks City Dancers, Paramount Productions, Orion Pictures, and Tommy Boy Records. Missy has also been featured in numerous publications including the New York Times, Fit Magazine and Cincinnati's City Beat. She recently won the 2007 CEA award for Critical Achievement in Choreography for her work in last season’s Christmas Yet To Come.
Missy and her partner Andrew Hubbard have been on faculty at the Broadway dance center (NYC), and Dean College (Mass) as well as master classes for Cincinnati Ballet, Cincinnati Conservatory, Ohio Dance Festival, and Wright State University (OH).
They are the founders of Exhale Dance Tribe, a nationally recognized contemporary jazz company. Exhale Dance Tribe has performed locally with Choreographers Without Companies, the Contemporary Arts Center, Know Theatre of Cincinnati, the Aronoff Center for the Arts, the Cincinnati Fringe Festival, as well as the Merce Cunningham Theater in New York City.
Together with partner Andrew Hubbard, they have been awarded the choreography award at Broadway Equity Fights Aids Easter Bonnet. They are affiliated with Access Broadway and Planet Dance as master teacher / judges.
Teaching has become Missy's new passion. Bringing quality dance education to today's dance artist is her dedication. Missy and Andrew have taught master classes and award winning choreography in many dance studios all across the U.S.

Creative Dance Productions is an organization designed to provide young people across the country, an opportunity to participate in learning experiences related to the dance arts. The CDP Power Dance Spectacular is intended to give performers an opportunity to display their talents for National awards.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
AGE DIVISIONS
The Solo Championship offers competition to qualified individuals in four separate age categories.
Primary Solo (Grades K-3)
Elementary Solo (Grades 4-6)
Junior Solo (Grades 7-9)
Senior Solo (Grades 10-12)
**2008 Solo Division Winners may not compete in solo in 2009 Pageant. You are invited to return to perform in exhibition and participate in the production number routine and awards presentation. You are eligible to compete in the 2010 Pageant. However, you may register a solo routine for a preliminary competition this year.**
REQUIREMENTS FOR SOLO ROUTINE
- A 3-minute block of time will be allotted for each performance. Routine must be a minimum of 1:30 and a maximum of 2:30. A 2-point penalty will be assessed for exceeding the 3-minute block.
- Any jazz, kick, pom, lyrical, modern, acro, prop or novelty or combination routine can be used.
- No fire baton, swords or anything with a sharp blade or end (contestants will automatically be disqualified for using this equipment)
- Entrance and exit will not be judged but are included in your total time block. Performers should be prepared to enter and/or exit from either side of the floor.
- Prop/routine set-up and tear down should be accomplished quickly and smoothly. (Included in your total time block)
- Routine content, uniform or costume should be in good taste and be complimentary to the performers age.
- The floor is a wood surface and footwear is at your discretion (No bare feet or tap shoes are permitted)
- Although no restrictions are being made on props, every effort should be made to protect the floor's surface from damage.

Soloists are required to attend at least one preliminary competition or may choose to send in videotape for review.
Duets and Trios are welcome to attend any preliminary competition. There is NO DUET or TRIO Competition at the 2009 Pageant Competition.
Preliminary Competitions - Solos, Duets and Trios will receive judge's taped comments and score sheets and a ribbon as a preliminary participant. TOP 3 SOLO scores in each age level will receive a special trophy. Top 2 Duets and Top 2 Trios in each age level will recieve a special trophy. Solos contestants will compete solo routine only at preliminary competitions. Solos, Duets and Trios are invited to compete at preliminary competitions at the following locations (you may register for as many preliminary competitions as you like). |

Preliminary VideoTape/DVD - Solos may elect to send a videotape or DVD to qualify to compete in the February pageant. All rules and requirements must be followed. We will only accept DVD or VHS videotapes. The quality of the video must be clear and of good quality. DVD/Videotapes will not be returned. We will accept DVD/videotapes postmarked no later than December 10, 2008.

JANUARY PAGEANT COMPETITION
(SOLOS only)
Preliminary competition will take place on Friday.
At the pageant Spectacular on Saturday evening, finalists will:
- Re-compete in solo routines
- Gown/ Tux modeling (see below)
- Junior & Senior finalists will compete compulsory (see below)
All performers will learn a production number for the evening finals. All Junior and Senior Finalists will compete a section of the production number on Saturday evening as a scored compulsory.
All solo contestests will be asked to model party/evening attire of their choice, dress/gown for ladies, suit/tux for gentlemen. Solo finalists will be scored in modeling. All solo contestants should bring party/evening attire for the final presentations on stage.
PAGEANT AWARDS
- Special semifinalists awards will be presented
- Runners-up will be awarded trophies
- Division Solo winners will receive a trophy, sash and a tiara/crown
- Senior division Solo winner will receive a $1,000.00 award
- Solo Division winners will have the opportunity to perform their routines at the S.C.A.U. State/National Championship in April.

ADJUDICATORS
Highly qualified adjudicators evaluate all performances. Each contestant or group will receive a packet at the end of final competition containing score sheets as well as valuable comments and suggestions. Poor sportsmanship on behalf of the competitors or their entourage may result in penalties or disqualification. All judges’ decisions are final.
PRELIMINARY REGISTRATION (Category = Solo or Duet or Trio)
Preliminary Competitions (Solo, Duet, Trio) – Registration fee for attending a preliminary competition is $45.00 per category.
Preliminary Videotape – Registration fee for mail-in videotape is $50.00 per category.
PAGEANT REGISTRATION
The 2009 CDP Power Dance Spectacular registration fees received by December 10, 2008 are as follows:
$165.00 per soloist
There will be a $25.00 late entry fee added to all registrations received after December 10, 2008.
No entries will be accepted after December 18, 2008.
This fee includes the following:
- Adjudication and administration fees
- 2009 Pageant T-shirt
- Each soloist will receive one complimentary pass for Saturday evening's pageant.
- Facility fees
- Awards
